JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Estimator is responsible for the estimating of landscape construction. The Project Estimator is responsible for calculating the material costs of the job and creating estimates on the labor, material and equipment required to build the job. Project Estimator will work closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, mathematics, construction, architecture, engineering, horticulture or other related, or 4 years related field or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements.
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in commercial construction estimating
- Proficient in estimating software platforms, including On-Screen Takeoff, Microsoft Office softwares
- Experience working with estimating software platforms, including On-Screen Takeoff, B2W, Bluebeam
- Proven track record of bid to contract conversions
License or Certification
- As required by state and federal law
- Valid driver license issued by the state where employed
- Professional Certification in Construction Estimating a plus

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Manage estimating schedule in conjunction with Chief Estimator
- Assist in manage department workflow and systems
- Manage and estimate larger and complex projects
- Assist with hiring and recruiting of Estimators
- Assist Chief Estimator with Bid Calendar preparation and meetings
- Assist Chief Estimator in scheduling lunch and learn vendors for continuous improvement
- Assist Chief Estimator in meaningful field outings and continuous improvement
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills; develop morale and recognize employee achievements; foster opportunities for professional development of employees
- Extensive knowledge of company policies and procedures. Provide recommendation for policy changes.
- Lead local safety initiative and training.
- Assist with the management of workflow and systems
- Train and mentor Estimator and Estimator Trainees
- Bid Private and Public Works projects
- Check client planroom for updated documents
- Collaborate with Sr. Estimator
- Understand wage determinations for target markets
- Bid complex and large-scale projects including podium and rooftop work
- Sign and adhere to Non-Disclosure Agreements on confidential projects
- Understand and incorporate client issued documents into bid process (ITB, SOW, Bid Form, Schedule, Specifications, etc.)
- Build qualified vendor and subcontractor network to ensure competitive pricing
- Descope subcontractor proposals and understand associated risk
- Build cost estimates in bid and budget environments
- Understand appropriate markups per job type and scope of work
- Attend pre-bid and post scope review meetings with clients
- Package projects, including all scopes of work, for management review
- Provide risk assessment and suggestions to alleviate risk exposure in projects
- Review and contribute to value added pricing opportunities
- Complete proposals and bid packages per predefined strategy
- Accountable for complete project estimate
- Accountable for successful operational turnover

Please note that the salary information shown below is provided in compliance with state specific laws. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations, and therefore may be different in other locations or operating divisions.
Pay range: $90,000 - $120,000
