Landscape Foreman
Job Overview
Erskine Mowing and More is seeking a motivated and experienced Landscape Foreman to lead landscape maintenance and construction projects with professionalism, efficiency, and attention to detail. The Foreman will oversee daily field operations, coordinate crews, perform property inspections, manage work orders, and ensure all work is completed safely and to the highest standards.
This position requires a strong background in landscaping, irrigation, and general construction. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can motivate crews, communicate effectively with clients and management, and maintain exceptional quality on every project.
Responsibilities
Crew Leadership & Operations
- Supervise and coordinate daily landscape maintenance and construction activities.
- Assign tasks, manage crew schedules, and ensure projects are completed on time.
- Conduct property inspections and quality-control checks.
- Review and complete work orders accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain a safe work environment and enforce company safety policies.
Landscape & Irrigation
- Perform and oversee mowing, pruning, planting, fertilization, and general landscape maintenance.
- Diagnose, repair, and install irrigation systems including valves, controllers, wiring, sprinklers, drip systems, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure irrigation systems operate efficiently and promote water conservation.
- Provide guidance and training to crew members on proper landscaping practices.
Construction & Installation
- Lead landscape construction projects from start to finish.
- Build and repair fences, gates, decks, planter boxes, and other outdoor structures.
- Install sod, mulch, decorative rock, drainage systems, and landscape features.
- Perform light grading and operate equipment as needed.
- Utilize general construction knowledge to complete projects safely and professionally.
Equipment & Fleet Management
- Perform daily pre-trip inspections on trucks, trailers, skid steers, mowers, and all company equipment.
- Identify maintenance issues and report repairs promptly.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained and secured.
- Safely operate landscape and construction equipment.
Client & Property Management
- Conduct routine property walkthroughs and identify issues requiring attention.
- Communicate effectively with management, HOA representatives, and customers.
- Recommend repairs and improvements to maintain property appearance and functionality.
- Document completed work and provide updates when necessary.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in landscape maintenance, landscape construction, or horticulture.
- Previous supervisory or crew leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of irrigation troubleshooting, repairs, and installations.
- Experience building fences, decks, gates, and other landscape structures.
- General construction background with the ability to read and execute work orders.
- Knowledge of tree care, pruning, planting, and lawn maintenance.
- Experience operating landscape equipment and machinery.
- Ability to perform physical labor including lifting, bending, digging, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to conduct property inspections and maintain quality standards.
- Ability to perform daily pre-trip inspections on trucks, trailers, and equipment.
Preferred
- Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience operating skid steers, mini excavators, and trailers.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills.
- Knowledge of HOA property maintenance standards.
- Familiarity with irrigation controllers and smart irrigation systems.
- Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL). Candidates with a Class A CDL may qualify for additional compensation based on experience and company needs.
