POSITION:

LANDSCAPER (FULL-TIME) Ottine Mineral Springs is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Landscaper with a specialty in plant care – particularly Texas natives – to help maintain and protect the beauty of our resort grounds. This role goes beyond basic landscaping labor; we are looking for a true plant specialist who can provide expert care for our established plantings, safeguard the investment already made in our landscape, and help shape the future of our outdoor spaces.

The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of plant identification, health, and maintenance, as well as a passion for sustainable and regenerative practices that align with our commitment to protecting the natural integrity of our waters and environment.

This position requires some nights, weekends, and holidays.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide expert care and routine maintenance for established gardens, lawns, and landscaped areas, ensuring they remain healthy, visually appealing, and safe for guests.
  • Accurately identify all plants on the property (especially Texas natives) and understand their specific care needs, including watering, pruning, fertilization, and seasonal maintenance.
  • Monitor for pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies; diagnose issues and implement appropriate treatments using an integrated pest management plan developed in collaboration with the supervisor.
  • Practice or be willing to learn regenerative, symbiotic landscaping techniques that support soil health, biodiversity, and water protection.
  • Assist with seasonal planting, rotation, and enhancement projects to maintain year-round beauty.
  • Ensure pathways, driveways, and outdoor common areas are clean, safe, and free of debris.
  • Install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems to provide optimal watering without waste or harm to the environment.
  • Maintain and service landscaping tools and equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
  • Communicate regularly with the supervisor about plant health, project progress, and any concerns or improvements needed.
  • Always have constant awareness of safety hazards and report findings to supervisor.
  • Implement and adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Due to changing operational demands, it may be necessary to undertake various functions that are not specifically related to this position. This individual may be required to carry out additional tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Additionally, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and modification.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 6 months of experience in Texas native plants, landscaping, horticulture, or related field. Experience in resort, hospitality, or wellness environments is a plus.
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Proven ability to identify plants, understand their growth requirements, and diagnose and treat plant health issues.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn regenerative landscaping and integrated pest management practices.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and professional communication skills are critical.
  • Proficient in the use of landscaping tools and machinery.
  • Attention to detail, an eye for design, and a commitment to preserving landscape investments.
