This seasonal position (April–October) focuses on the beautification and maintenance of our clubhouses, common area gardens, and the broader Forest Highlands community. Reporting to the Head of Horticulture, team members perform a variety of tasks to create exceptional outdoor environments. This is a physically demanding role requiring heavy manual labor (digging/hauling) in high-temperature environments for extended periods. We prioritize safety and seek self-motivated individuals capable of sustained physical exertion throughout the summer season. Essential Functions
Customer Service: Maintain a professional, clean appearance and provide exemplary customer service when interacting with members and guests.
Collaboration: Proactively alert Supervisors to potential issues and help brainstorm efficient solutions. Candidates should be respectful, responsive, and enjoy working both independently and in small groups.
Work Ethic: Demonstrate a strong drive to learn new techniques and follow instructions accurately. A positive, "can-do" attitude is essential, especially during changing weather conditions.
General Work Requirements
Include, but are not limited to:
Groundwork preparation, including hauling and spreading rock and mulch.
Planting and maintaining seasonal/perennial garden beds, annual pots, and hanging baskets.
Pruning, watering, and applying fertilizers, insecticides, and/or fungicides.
Irrigation system maintenance and repair.
Operating and maintaining garden equipment, including prolonged use of backpack blowers and weed eaters.
Following written diagrams and verbal directions to completion.
Minimum Requirements
Availability: Reliable and flexible; must be able to work weekends and the weeks leading up to major holidays (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day).
License & Skills: Valid Driver’s License and the ability to drive manual transmission (clutch) vehicles.
Experience: Prior landscaping or groundskeeping experience; familiarity with basic hand tools, power tools, and irrigation systems.
Knowledge: Basic understanding of plant, tree, and shrub care.
Physical Ability: Must be able to perform taxing manual labor with speed and accuracy.
Professionalism: Ability to work quietly and efficiently in high-traffic residential areas. Must be able to take direction, follow instruction, and work both alone or with others
Language Skills: Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and effectively communicate with guests, management, club members, the public and other employees of the company.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Lifting: Ability to lift 30–50 lbs regularly; up to 100 lbs with assistance.
Stamina: Ability to walk, stand, bend, and crouch for long periods; manual hauling of soil, refuse, and rock.
Environment: Exposure to fluctuating weather (heat, cold, wind, rain).
Safety: Must maintain the ability to hear surroundings (maximum of one earbud allowed at any time).
