Laser Cutting Machine Operator

Summary:

The laser cutting machine operator uses a computer-operated laser cutting machine to cut sheet steel for a variety of manufactured products. The operator is required to assist in secondary, up or downstream operations (brake press, welding, etc.)

Responsibilities:

*Perform typical laser cutting operations including but not limited to:

• Select and load correct material (gauge and finish) per part specifications.
• Download and set the machine to run the scheduled cutting programs
• Adjust fixtures and laser beam focal point
• Establish stop locations
• Rotate noble gas supplies as required
• Perform prescribed maintenance as required
• Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisor

*Other related (up or downstream) production tasks as required.

*Maintaining 5-S in production area

*Additional tasks may be assigned

Education/Experience:

• 2 years mandatory experience operating computer oriented:

-CNC,

-Plasma cutter,

-Water jet, or

-Laser cutter

• 1 year experience strongly, strongly but not required:

-MIG welding

• 1 year experience also but not required:

-Press (stamp or brake) Operation

-Milling

Other Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must be trustworthy, dependable and exercise sound judgement.
• Taking directives and following instructions, working in a fast-paced environment, and completing proper paperwork.
• Excellent attendance, capable of working overtime and weekends if required.
• Communicate with coworkers and team leader.
• Proficiency with Microsoft operating systems, and Office products

Physical Component(s): ability and willingness to:

• -Work standing for 10-hour shifts (with breaks)
• -Lift, push and pull up to 60 pounds on a continuous basis.
• -Some bending and walking.

Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday from 6:00am to 4:30pm with a 30-minute lunch and two (2) 15-minute breaks daily. Fridays designated for overtime, as needed.

Salary range: Starting at $22.00/hr.
