Job Description

We are seeking a Laser Engineer to join our R&D and production team in developing next-generation lasers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laser diode systems, optical alignment, and fiber coupling, with the ability to translate concepts into robust manufacturable designs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Laser Engineer designs, assemble, and test semiconductor and solid-state lasers (400 nm – 2000 nm).
  • Develop and optimize fiber-coupled laser assemblies for Raman excitation, seeding, and sensing applications.
  • Laser Engineer implements and refine automated optical alignment and testing processes for scalable manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate laser drive electronics, TEC control, and photodiode monitoring.
  • Laser Engineer characterize performance parameters including linewidth, wavelength stability, beam quality, and coupling efficiency.
  • Apply Design of Experiments (DOE) and data-driven methods to improve reliability and process yield.
  • Support continuous improvement of packaging reliability, thermal management, and optical alignment methods.
  • Work cross-functionally with production, quality, and applications teams to bring new designs into production.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Education: B.S. or higher in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in laser diode or solid-state laser product development.
  • Laser Engineer must have proven expertise in optomechanical design, fiber coupling, and optical alignment techniques.
  • Familiarity with laser diode packaging, automation tools, and reliability testing.
  • Laser Engineer must have working knowledge of laser drive electronics, TEC control, and thermal management.
  • Experience with optical modeling software (e.g., Zemax, Code V, LightTools) and data analysis (Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW).
