In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining our customer expectations to ensure customer orders are delivered at the right time, to the right location. You will develop a team of salaried and hourly talent. You will be responsible for engaging your team during their shifts to maintain the highest levels of safety, quality, attendance, and performance. Our Operation’s workflow has three major components: First mile - where the product is housed and ready for order; Middle mile - where the order is hauled to your area; and Last mile - when the product is delivered to the customer’s door. The Launch Leader, operating as part of the SSD Operations Excellence team (OpX) will consist of a group of high performing operators that can quickly dive into the details of neighboring sites and work with those teams to establish best practices. This team is responsible for supporting, teaching and removing barriers for new launch site leadership teams from pre-launch through post-launch phases. This role will be traveling up to 75% of the time, in order to get hands-on experience of optimizing processes within the operations, specifically focused around cost and quality. After a 18-24 month rotational through this role, these leaders will have had the ability to diversify their leadership skills, emphasizing on dive deep and think big, and go back to running a building in the Sub Same Day network.
Key job responsibilities
Key Responsibilities and Job Elements:
- Support, mentor, and motivate your team (new launch site)
- Lead large-scope projects with site and regional impact
- Create and implement productivity plans through forecast reviews, determining productivity requirements, and partnering with other Leaders to load balance
- Manage safety, quality, productivity, and customer delivery promises
- Collaborate with all support teams including Safety, Ops Integration, Loss Prevention and Human Resources to develop plans to meet business objectives
- Lift up to 49 pounds, stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach, as well as continuously climb and descend stairs
- Work in an environment where the noise level varies and is subject to variable temperatures and weather (delivery stations include outside loading departments, and grocery locations include refrigerated environments)
- Work a flexible schedule (weekends and/or overnight shifts)

A day in the life
- Review Key Performance Indicator Metrics across Safety, Quality, People, Performance/Cost for launch site, deep diving and root causing misses
- Host Daily Deep Dive meeting with Site Leader and Ops Managers to establish and align to actions plans to improve performance
- Document performance, actions and trends - send weekly communication stakeholders
- Audit, observe site leadership - providing real-time feedback to site leader and managers to close standard work gaps
- Attend Launch DBR/WBR calls to speak to site performance/actions
- Partner with key stakeholders to remove any site barriers
- Work on individual large scope project(s)
- Bachelor's degree or above in engineering, project management, operations, logistics, supply chain or related field
- 1+ years of operations management experience
- Experience handling multiple competing priorities and complex projects with multiple stakeholders (e.g. definition of accurate network expansion plans, vendor development, quality assurance, design and cost improvement, team and stakeholder engagement)
- Previous experience launching new sites

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
