POSITION SUMMARY:
The Launch Manager is responsible for leading assigned customer programs from development through production launch, ensuring program objectives, manufacturing targets, customer deliverables, timing, quality, cost, and performance expectations are achieved. This position provides technical leadership to cross-functional teams, drives issue resolution and risk mitigation, maintains strong internal and external customer relationships, and ensures all launch activities are completed in accordance with company procedures, product development requirements, and customer expectations. The Launch Manager also supports continuous improvement initiatives and maintains accurate documentation, data, and reporting to ensure traceability, compliance, and successful program execution.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5-10 years’ experience in project management with Automotive experience (preferred).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering (Preferred), Engineering, Business Management or equivalent.
- Ability to work effectively in a global environment.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and function as a highly competent professional. Work involves independent problem solving and decision making ability.
- Knowledge of product development engineering practices in automotive field, manufacturing of electronics, financial analysis.
- Knowledge in planned and structured approach.
- Knowledge of problem solving.
- Knowledge of configuration management and project monitoring and control techniques.
- Ability to represent technical topics internally and externally.
- Experience in a dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing environment, with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
- Proven experience working with cross functional teams to complete daily tasks and projects.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other employees.
- Knowledge/experience of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify and troubleshoot issues that may arise.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS
- Ensures manufacturing targets (BOM cost, quality, cycle times, delivery timing, tooling, performance, etc.) for all assigned programs are met. Documents and monitors program objectives.
- Provides technical leadership in directing the efforts of a cross-functional project team in the development and production release of all relevant project deliverables in compliance with the product development process and customer expectations. Ensures countermeasures are initiated to correct unfavorable variances.
- Ensures timing plans, defect / issues lists, and risk assessments are created and maintained and provides project status for program reviews (e.g. gate, milestones, launch readiness, etc.) according to program timing for all assigned programs per product development process.
- Ensures all pre-production deliveries are completed and on time to the customer requirements.
- Participates in continuous improvement efforts, researches, recommends and initiates implementation of enhancements to products, processes and programs. Works to maintain and improve contribution margin goals for the assigned programs.
- Works with internal and external resources to maintain strong customer relationships with dedication to customer program schedules. Ensures countermeasures are initiated to correct unfavorable variances by communicating alternative measures to the customer which may be used to solve engineering problems.
- Generates and maintains all necessary documentation and data and systems in all areas / programs responsible to ensure traceability and compliance to Company procedures.
