PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain the highest standards when handling guest laundry/dry cleaning to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure that working environment complies with the maximum standard of safety.
  • Evaluate performance of department personnel.
  • Give Cross Training to improve the productivity and knowledge of the staff.
  • Promote honesty among the staff in order to ensure that Lost and Found items are given to the department concerned.
  • Represent the Laundry Department in Department heads Meeting.
  • Ensure that the Laundry area is clean at all times, including machinery piping, floor and ceiling.
  • Provide the staff with well-maintained uniforms.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Conduct department meetings to keep staff informed of new methods and changes in procedures.
  • Handle the administrative work for the Laundry Department and provides Accounting with an up to date report with regards to cost incurred by other departments.
  • Check the market in order to be sure that productivity and knowledge of staff is up-to-date.
  • Monitor all claims against the Laundry department working closely with hotel executives responsible for guest claim liability.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Be well versed with all the equipment in the department.
  • Ensure that all equipment is always in proper working condition, by training staff how to use it correctly and performing regular maintenance checks by Engineering Department as designated contractor.
  • Ensure that the quality control for Rooms and F&B linen is maintained and that the linen is clean without damage and properly pressed.
  • Ensure that chemicals are stored in a safe manner and that the storeroom can only be opened by authorized staff.

Commercial Responsibilities

  • Develop a profit plan for the following fiscal year under the guidelines established.
  • Make suggestions for capital improvements.
  • Prepare the budget for presentation with the Director of Rooms.
  • Control expenses through monthly inventories and Laborer standards.
  • Ensure the guests are charged the right amount.
  • Monitor energy and water consumption, as well as chemical usage.

Human Resources Responsibilities

  • Develop and trains team members.
  • Conducts on the job training in accordance with the departmental standards and procedures and maintains a record of progress for each staff.
  • To evaluate all Laundry team member after training-performance knowledge and potential.
  • Oversee monthly rosters of staff schedules.

RELATIONSHIP

  • Encourages staff to engage in self-development training.
  • Prepares training program for the department and ensures the effectiveness of such training.
  • Knows what to do in case of emergency and ensure that regular training is given to the staff concerning this matter.

Others

  • Continuous learning through own IDP.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the superior.
