Laundry Specialist

Role Summary

The Laundry Specialist is responsible for the efficient and careful processing of all linens, garments, and textiles used within our facility/for our clients. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to strict hygiene standards, and the ability to operate commercial laundry equipment safely.

Key Responsibilities

• Sorting & Preparation:
• Sort soiled linens, garments, and textiles by color, fabric type, and degree of soil before washing.
• Inspect items for damage or stains and treat stains effectively before washing (pre-spotting).
• Count and record inventory as required.
• Washing & Processing:
• Operate and monitor commercial washing machines, dryers, and ironers according to manufacturer and company guidelines.
• Select appropriate wash cycles, temperatures, and chemical dosages for different types of fabrics.
• Ensure proper use and handling of all laundry chemicals (detergents, bleaches, softeners, etc.).
• Finishing & Distribution:
• Neatly fold, press, and/or hang clean laundry.
• Report any damaged or torn items to a supervisor.
• Organize and transport clean linen to designated storage or distribution areas.
• Maintenance & Safety:
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including cleaning lint filters and wiping down equipment.
• Report any maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions immediately.
• Adhere to all company safety, hygiene, and infection control procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Previous experience (2+ year preferred) working in a commercial, hospital, or hotel laundry environment is a plus.
• Physical Demands:
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move heavy laundry bags/carts (up to [Specify weight, e.g., 50 lbs]) repeatedly throughout a shift.
• Skills:
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Knowledge of different fabric types and appropriate cleaning methods.
• Basic understanding of laundry chemicals and safety procedures.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
