Law Firm Director of Finance—Wilmington, DE (Exclusive Search)

We have been exclusively retained by a well-established law firm that seeks to hire a Director of Finance for its Wilmington, Delaware office. The role is responsible for the financial and accounting operations of the firm and requires three days per week in person.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage all financial and accounting operations of the firm, including budget and planning, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, taxation and reporting compliance, financial analysis, vendor management, and client invoicing
• Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies, procedures, and controls
• Conduct financial analyses to identify cost containment opportunities and prepare productivity reports, line of business profit-and-loss statements, and operations cost analyses
• Oversee asset and cash management to support the firm’s business objectives
• Direct firm-wide financial systems, including cost and time capture systems
• Supervise a small accounting team and assigned vendor resources

What the Firm Seeks:

• Five or more years of accounting and financial management experience, with at least one year in a departmental management role
• Prior supervisory experience managing a staff of two to three full-time employees
• Law firm accounting experience, ideally with a contingency practice
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Proficiency with general ledger accounting, cash-basis financial reporting, and tax-basis reporting standards
• Strong Excel skills; experience with Elite/3E preferred

What the Firm Offers:

• Salary likely $175,000 to $200,000
• Discretionary bonus (typically $5,000 to $15,000)
