Under direct supervision, is responsible for maintaining all Bexar County Law Library holdings and for the operation of legal research computers; assists walk-in customers in utilizing library resources; completes routine clerical tasks, and; performs related duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains and updates all holdings of the Bexar County Law Library including legal research software and all legal reference material
Assists pro-se litigants with the use of library resources including Local, State, and Federal statutes and other legal publications
Provides end-users with familiarization training regarding the use of Westlaw legal research software and online resources
May perform the duties of Copy Machine Operator or Receptionist as needed or in their absence
Performs other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications:
High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate, supplemented by college-level course work and one (1) year experience in a library or legal studies; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of basic computer operations; knowledge of installation and use of legal research software
Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations; skill in operating personal computer, typewriter and basic office equipment; skill in operating 10-key adding machine
Ability to accurately maintain accounts; ability to verbally communicate effectively; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, outside organizations/vendors, and the public
Bi-lingual (Spanish) language skills preferred
Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
Constantly working in indoor conditions
Occasionally moves items weighing up to 10 pounds
Occasionally moves about the office
Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
Positions self to perform essential functions
Must be able to remain in a stationary position
