We are inviting applications for the position of Lawyer/ Legal Counsel to support our institution’s legal and regulatory processes, particularly in obtaining official permissions for archaeological and heritage-related work.

Role Overview

The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing the institution's legal matters, with a focus on coordinating with government authorities for:

  • Permits and site access approvals
  • Legal compliance concerning transport, conservation, and documentation of antiquities
  • Drafting, reviewing, and maintaining legal agreements, MoUs, and formal communications
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant acts and policies, including the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, Forest (Conservation) Act, and related heritage laws
  • Representing the institution in legal correspondences or proceedings, if necessary

Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.); candidates with a specialization in environmental, heritage, or land-use law will be preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with exposure to government procedures and public sector coordination
  • Strong understanding of legal frameworks related to archaeology, environment, and cultural heritage
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and liaise effectively with multiple stakeholders

Pay: ₹2,500.00 - ₹5,000.00 per day
