Principle Duties

The Auto Worker will need to know how to operate a variety of tools ranging from pneumatic to power and hand tools. You will perform all journey-level mechanic duties including:

  • Diagnosing, adjusting, and repairing UDC equipment.
  • Inspecting parts for wear, breaks, and defects.
  • Using diagnostic testing and calibrating equipment.
  • Completing paperwork to account for parts and labor.
  • Supervising inmate workers and working around inmates.
  • Completing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


The Ideal Candidate

The best-qualified individual for this position is someone who:

  • Has any mechanical certifications.
  • Has at least 6 years of directly related professional experience.
  • Is very detail oriented and willing to learn and adapt to new ways.
  • Takes charge and has a high standard of workmanship.
  • Has a current ASE Certification or will have one within the next six months.

  • Adherence to Safety and security guidelines, policies, and practices while working in and around this environment.
  • This job is NOT public safety certified and does not require peace officer status or certification.
  • Risks that require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
  • The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas, and defending oneself and/or others against physical attack.
