ABOUT THE WOMEN'S SHELTER
The shelter offers a safe and welcoming environment to women experiencing homelessness in Albuquerque. The center is open year-round and offers meals, a warm overnight bed, and secure under-bed storage. The shelter provides low barrier, trauma-informed case management, job searching and other supportive services. The team works to guide guests through a successful exit from shelter to safe,, stable housing, and a plan for ongoing support.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?
You will actively lead and support the Housing Support Specialist team at Womens Housing Navigation Shelter. With your guidance and coaching, the team will be able to provide consistent delivery of high-quality, client-centered housing support services, including Rapid Rehousing and Transitional Housing programs. You are going to coordinate day-to-day operations, assist with complex cases, foster team development, support new hires, and oversee some administrative functions such as reporting, compliance tracking, and communication with upper leadership. You will get to travel into the community, fostering relationships with housing partners, landlords, and community resources alongside your team. Above anything else, you will promote trauma-informed practices, uphold shelter standards, and support our clients' transition to permanent housing through direct service and team leadership.

You get it - you know what this work really means. You know what it means to work in a shelter with diverse people and families experiencing traumas, crisis, mental health issues, and barriers to stable housing. You know how to remain calm, safe and get things done.
You're trauma-informed. You understand the effects of trauma on individuals and families, and go the extra mile to be compassionate and supportive in all your interactions.
You love to coach and collaborate. Mentoring, coaching, building up others' strengths while developing their growth is what you're all about!
You're resourceful and think on your feet! You know how to navigate local housing markets, rental programs, and landlord relations. Peer support practices, case management, housing program operations, maintaining program compliance and delivering services within Rapid Rehousing and Transitional Housing guidelines.
You always follow-through. As a leader, you teach your team that documentation, meeting deadlines and coming through on your commitments is key to client and program success.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Certified Peer Support Worker.
A Bachelor’s degree, preferred or a combination of a minimum of 3-4 years of work experience and education will be considered.
Minimum two years of experience in housing, case management, or social service delivery.
Previous experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or in a supportive housing setting is highly desirable.
Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office and client management software.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally as needed.
