Role Summary
Guide project teams and mentor engineers while leading design efforts. You’ll ensure technical accuracy, drive quality, and help shape project outcomes. This position is ideal for those who thrive in leadership roles, enjoy mentoring others, and are ready to guide project execution while driving technical excellence and team development. GPD is looking to continue to grow, and we are excited to hire a Civil engineer that embodies the entrepreneurial spirit GPD is founded on in our Independence or Columbus, Ohio offices. This engineer will share a passion for mentoring and developing while leading project designs with our clients in the Power, Energy, and Data Center markets.
Role Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- 6-10 years of experience in civil design.
- PE License highly preferred but not required.
- Proficient in working with AutoCAD Civil 3-D, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
- Proficient in Stormwater Modeling and Management, Slope Stabilizations, and Site Development design.
- Proficient in access drives, grading, and storm water management design.
- Advanced ability to comprehend and interpret design Codes, utility standards, and regulations.
- Advanced in analytical thinking and project organization, with strong problem-solving capabilities and a sharp eye for detail
- Proficient and influential, with the ability to guide cross-functional collaboration and mentor team members in a multi-discipline environment
- Expert in written and verbal communication, capable of guiding teams, mentoring peers, and presenting complex ideas clearly
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
Role Responsibilities
- Guide the application of client standards and applicable design codes and specifications related to design requirements.
- Lead drawing development and CAD-based design tasks, guiding team members and ensuring technical accuracy.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning and technical growth within the team.
- Lead quality control efforts across project teams, mentor others in QA practices, and ensure consistency in technical execution.
- Lead client discussions on technical scope, provide solutions, and build strong working relationships through consistent communication.
- Lead task execution and guide team efforts to meet scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
- Participate in occasional site walks for current projects. Less than 5% travel.
- Lead the coordination between our internal teams of surveyors, environmental specialists, and geotechnical crew.
