ABOUT US


Indus Action aims to enable over 800 million vulnerable citizens in India to move irreversibly out of extreme poverty by facilitating access to critical government support to which they are entitled. We partner with communities and governments to simplify access to education,livelihoods, healthcare and welfare, using tech and better design to navigate bureaucratic hurdles.

By 2030, we aim to impact 30 million people with adequate social protection. Since 2013, our program innovations have impacted 2 million+ citizens in accessing entitlements across the above workstreams. ROLE BRIEF

The Communications Lead will oversee all internal and external communication activities for the organisation, managing brand positioning, digital presence, and stakeholder engagement. This role requires strategic thinking combined with hands-on execution across multiple communication channels, including social media management, publication oversight, and campaign development. The successful candidate will drive communication excellence while maintaining brand consistency and supporting organisational growth through compelling storytelling and audience engagement.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Digital Communications & Social Media Management
  • Manage organisational presence across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn & WhatsApp
  • Develop social media content strategies and monitor engagement metrics
  • Lead publication editorial processes and visual storytelling
  • Create one-pagers, case studies, policy notes, and presentation decks
2. Brand Management & Creative Direction
  • Maintain brand consistency across all communication materials
  • Coordinate documentaries, short films, and multimedia content
  • Oversee the design of stationery, banners, and event materials
  • Execute campaign-specific communication strategies
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Operations
  • Plan events, roundtables, and stakeholder activities
  • Manage internal communications and media relationships
  • Conduct ecosystem benchmarking and maintain brand guidelines
  • Produce monthly communication reports and analytics


Requirements

Requirements
  • Technical Skills: Social media management tools, Adobe Creative Suite/Canva, video editing, email marketing platforms, data analysis, GSuite office tools, etc.
  • Behavioural Competencies: Strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, collaboration with diverse stakeholders, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
6-8 years in communications or marketing with a proven track record in multi-channel strategies. Non-profit/social impact experience preferred. Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
