About the role

This is a technical leadership position responsible for applying advanced analytics, machine learning, GenAI, and statistical modeling to address complex business problems. The Lead Data Scientist will develop predictive models and algorithms, deliver deep data insights, and oversee data-driven solutions from concept to production. The role involves leading and mentoring a team of data scientists, collaborating across functions, and ensuring that projects align with business goals.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models, AI algorithms, and statistical analyses for business challenges (e.g., predictive analytics, recommendation systems, hyper-personalization, fraud detection).
• Lead a team of data scientists, providing technical guidance and mentoring on model development, experimentation, and implementation.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Delivery, and Business teams to integrate data science solutions into production systems.
• Identify relevant datasets, perform data mining, and ensure data quality for modeling.
• Communicate insights and model outcomes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to inform business decisions.
• Define project roadmaps from ideation to production deployment and monitoring, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Build predictive and prescriptive models (classification, regression, clustering, time-series, GenAI, etc.).
• Explore and pilot new methods, select appropriate modeling approaches (Deep Learning, NLP, GenAI, LLMs, XAI), and promote best practices.
• Describe AI models using Explainable AI techniques.

Must have skills

• BSc in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of experience leading projects and teams of data science.
• Experience in delivering similar projects in the banking sector.
• Proficiency in Python (or R), SQL, and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn).
• MUST: Experience deploying models in production environments, not only solution development.
• Preferred: Master’s or Diploma in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
• Fluency in Arabic and English.

Conditions

• Hybrid role — requires being on-site in New Cairo, Egypt, 3 times per week, with 8 hours of overlap with UTC+2.
• Contractor role — 12-month contract, renewable.
• Full-time dedication (40 hours/week).
• BYOD (bring your own device) required.
