Role Overview
We are seeking a Lead DevOps & Systems Engineer with 5–9 years of experience to design, implement, and manage our system setup, deployment, and infrastructure processes. This role will be responsible for establishing best practices, creating automation frameworks, and ensuring the reliability of both on-premise and cloud environments. The candidate should be hands-on enough to execute tasks directly, while also mentoring and guiding 1–2 junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Process Design & Leadership:

Define and standardize processes for Ubuntu system setup, cloning, restoration, and upgrades.

Establish repeatable frameworks for software deployment, CI/CD, and cloud provisioning.

Mentor and guide junior engineers, ensuring adherence to best practices.
System & Software Deployment:
-
Oversee installation and maintenance of Ubuntu machines.
-
Design processes for deploying our software stack (Python, C++, Node.js, React.js) on Linux systems.

Ensure reproducibility of environments via scripts or configuration management tools.
CI/CD & Source Control:
-
Architect and manage Bitbucket CI/CD pipelines for builds, testing, and deployments.

Drive improvements in automation, code quality, and deployment speed.
Database & Backup Management

Establish policies for MongoDB installation, upgrades, monitoring, and backups.

Define and execute strategies for system cloning and restoration (full-disk images and system+data copies).
Cloud Infrastructure

Design secure, scalable setups on AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, networking).

Build automation workflows for provisioning, scaling, and monitoring.
Automation & Documentation
-
Write and maintain automation scripts (Bash/Python).

Document processes, standards, and recovery workflows for the team.
Required Skills & Experience
-
5–9 years of relevant experience in DevOps, System Administration, or Infrastructure Engineering.

Strong background in Linux/Ubuntu system administration.

Hands-on experience with Bitbucket pipelines (or GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).

Proficiency in Bash and Python scripting.

Experience deploying and managing software in Python, C++, Node.js, React.js environments.

Knowledge of MongoDB installation, scaling, and backup strategies.

Familiarity with system cloning tools (Clonezilla, rsync, Timeshift) and backup/restore processes.

Solid working knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC).

Demonstrated ability to design processes while being hands-on for execution.
Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to Docker/Kubernetes for containerization.

Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).

Strong mentoring ability; prior experience leading small teams.

Good understanding of security best practices in system and cloud setups.
