What you’ll do:

The Lead Engineer – Product Compliance is responsible for driving the strategic direction and execution of product certification and regulatory compliance for a global portfolio of products, including panel boards, enclosures, control equipment, cable glands, fittings and LED luminaires. This role leads complex certification projects, mentors engineering teams, and ensures alignment with evolving global standards. The position requires deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams and external certification bodies. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a passion for compliance excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

"• Lead and oversee global product certification efforts across multiple product lines, ensuring compliance with UL, CSA, IEC, EN, ATEX, IECEx, NEC, and CEC codes and standards.
  • Define and implement long-term compliance strategies that support product innovation, market expansion, and regulatory readiness.
  • Manage complex certification projects, including planning, budgeting, risk assessment, and stakeholder communication to ensure timely and cost-effective execution.
  • Act as the primary liaison with global certification agencies, third-party test labs, and regulatory bodies.
  • Guide cross-functional teams—including Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Marketing on integrating compliance into product development processes.
  • Analyze changes in global safety standards and regulations, assess their impact, and proactively guide teams on necessary adaptations.
  • Provide technical leadership in engineering change processes (ECR/ECN), ensuring continued compliance and accurate documentation updates.
  • Mentor and support certification engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Support internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.

Qualifications:

BE/Masters-Mechanical/Electrical or Equivalent from an accredited institution
"• Minimum of 10-14 years Product Testing and Certification experience with Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 10-12 years Product Testing and Certification experience with Master’s Degree"

Skills:

"• Expert-level understanding of international product safety and compliance standards, including UL, CSA, IEC, EN, ATEX, IECEx, NEC, and CEC.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply relevant electrical and mechanical codes and standards.
  • Proficient in developing and reviewing construction documents, SOPs, and test plans for certification.
  • Skilled in analyzing complex test data and providing strategic technical recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing global certification projects from initiation to completion, including stakeholder engagement and documentation control.
  • In-depth knowledge of hazardous area classifications and applications (preferred).
  • Proficiency in compliance platforms such as UL Product iQ, IECEx Online, and other certification management tools.
  • Familiarity with safety and compliance software tools and digital documentation systems.
  • Strong project management capabilities, with the ability to lead multiple high-impact projects under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills to influence internal and external stakeholders."
