Lead Engineer Structure

Mission
Lead the team of Engineers and Technician within it’s discipline. Perform structural design for concrete
and steel structures using International standards American, British and similar along with the local
regulations.

Line and Staff Relations
This role will report directly to Director, Production and Operations. He/She has relation with:

• All the local staff: Inspector and Support staff
• All the external entities necessary to his/her job execution

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure effective communications and co-ordinations between all supervised staff, Senior / Lead

Engineers of other departments and Project Managers, to ensure mutual awareness of
requirements and sharing of information and common resources

• Implement and maintain productivity targets for supervised staff, including monitoring of

overtime and budgeted man hours

• Conduct routine meetings with supervised staff to monitor the projects' performance and assess

their performance;

• Prepare an estimate of required man hours along with supporting documentation for both

proposals and major change orders, prior to issuance;

• Develop the department's capability and enhance the technical expertise of staff to suit the

present marketplace, through proper training & development, selective recruitment, evaluation
of staff, continuous monitoring & assessment of staff and utilization of up to date software.
CONCEPTION STAGE

• Review structural designs produced by the Structural Engineers ensuring that all design work

complies with the relevant technical standards , quality standards and local authorities rules &
regulations.

• Understands client requirements and identifies inputs and outputs,
• Monitor overall productivity and efficiency of the projects, forecast trends and anticipate

potential problems and difficulties meeting milestones or budget

• Is in charge of all types of verifications:

o Reviews contracts in terms of supplying the right goods and services, on time and within
budget,
o Checks the cohesion between the general studies and the specifications,
o Checks the compliance with various codes (security, safety, airport regulation,
construction…) as per Country and/or Client’s requirement,
o Ensures project management quality assurance,
o Ensures production quality regarding drawings and all contractual documents, including
material submittals, in respect of the delays,
o May be called for specialist advice, diagnostics, expertise recommendations and solutions
on airport installations and other existing buildings types.
CONSTRUCTION STAGE

• Coordinates with other Technical Consultant’s Engineers,
• Coordinates with the Contractors technical issues,
• Works on the required site modifications, prepares and submits Variation Order to the Client’s

approval, issues Engineer’s Instructions and answers the contractors’ technical requests.

• Is in charge of all types of verifications:

o Prepares technical comments on non-conformity reports, instruction request and material
approvals that will be transmitted to the Construction Manager via the Resident Engineer
for validation,
o Reviews all documents related to construction work, such as but not limited to: shop
drawings, as-built documentation, method of statements, materials submittals, mock-ups,
calculation notes, etc…
o Alerts in case of claims and advise the Contract Adviser for answering claims,
o Checks the production and construction quality on site,
o Checks manufacturing of devices (including validation of prototype).

• Supervises the all construction work stages:

o Supervises installation, commissioning, testing, punch listing and training,
o Controls the progress of works (building site follow-up, execution plans control…through
site visit),
o Attends site meetings with the client, contractors, subcontractors and/or suppliers,
o Supervises inspectors.
 Profile Specifications – Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a Structural Engineering or Similar.
• 10-15 years structural design experience of concrete and steel structures with Internationl

Consultancy firm.

• Experience in Airport projects is preferred.
• Good knowledge and working experience in related structural design analysis software

( Etabs, Safe , Sap2000, Robot).

• Good knowledge of structural international standard ASCE-7, IBC, ACI-318, AISC-360, EN-BS.
• Have experience in the GCC.
• Dubai Municipality Approved or Certified (G + 12) mandatory
• Society of Engineers Dubai membership and Abu Dhabi Engineering license - mandatory
• Document and Specification Authoring
• Logical approach to problem solving
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications : DOC,XLS,PPT,MPP,VSD
• Proficiency in communication skills : English
