Lead Fire Protection Engineer

$90,000-$130,000 depending on experience/expertise

Position Summary

We are seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to deliver design and code-compliant solutions for fire protection and life safety systems on federal projects. The role involves producing high-quality Revit-based designs for suppression, alarm, and smoke control systems, along with code analysis and life safety reviews, ensuring compliance with NFPA, UFC, and VA standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop fire protection system designs in Revit, including sprinklers, suppression, alarms, and mass notification systems.
  • Perform code compliance reviews and life safety/hazard analyses in accordance with NFPA, UFC, and VA TIL standards.
  • Design and coordinate smoke control systems, fire barriers, egress, and firestopping solutions.
  • Prepare specifications, calculations, and technical narratives for submission packages.
  • Coordinate with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and structural disciplines for integrated life safety systems.
  • Support Construction Period Services, including RFIs, submittal reviews, and site inspections.
  • Conduct QAQC reviews to ensure compliance and technical accuracy of deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Fire Protection (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
  • Demonstrated experience with federal design standards, including NFPA, UFC, VA TIL, and applicable building codes.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam for fire protection system design and documentation.
  • Experience in fire alarm, suppression, smoke control, and life safety/egress system design.
  • Strong ability to perform hazard analysis, code compliance reviews, and prepare technical reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordination with clients and multi-discipline teams.

Travel may be required for project site visits (typically 10–15%).

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $90,000-$130,000
