Role Overview

As the Lead Front Door Waste (FDW) Technician, you lead the work of FDW Technicians, ensuring reliable operations, quality service, and an outstanding resident experience. You lead by example and support your team to deliver the Front Door Waste Program safely and consistently.

Leadership & Team Support

  • Provide clear directions to FDW Technicians on expectations, routing, and safety, consistently demonstrating high-performance behavior.

  • Track activity in the required smartphone app (pickups, service times, issues).

  • Serve as the primary on‑shift point of contact for technician questions and operational concerns.

  • Resolve minor service challenges and escalate issues appropriately.

  • Float to communities that are short-staffed to provide additional support.

  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with community staff, residents, and technicians while promoting a culture of accountability, teamwork, and service excellence.

  • Keep the FDW Manager informed of performance trends, staffing needs, and operational updates.

  • Coach and train new or developing FDW Technicians to support their growth and readiness.

  • Demonstrate consistent professionalism and a resident‑first mindset.

Safety & Quality Champion

  • Ensure technicians follow all required safety procedures and proper handling of waste.

  • Report safety incidents, maintenance issues, or community concerns to the FDW Manager.

  • Assist with training on equipment operation, proper lifting techniques, and PPE usage.

Operational Problem Solving

  • Respond professionally to residents, customers, or community team questions.

  • Assist technicians with issues like overflows, access challenges, improper waste, or service disruptions.

  • Document issues in the required apps and communicate trends to the FDW Manager.

  • Help troubleshoot interruptions and provide temporary coverage when necessary.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • 3-4 years of experience in waste services, facilities management, or related service operations

  • Previous lead or shift‑supervisory experience preferred

  • Strong customer service orientation with professional, confident communication skills

  • Working knowledge of basic EPA and OSHA safety practices

  • Comfortable using smartphones, mobile apps, and basic reporting tools

  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and support team workflow needs

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Ability to travel locally between assigned communities as needed
