Main Purpose:
To lead geo-mechanical data generation, laboratory testing, and advanced numerical modeling to assess subsurface stability and deformation under varying pressure and temperature conditions, providing robust geo-mechanical inputs for underground design, risk mitigation, and ground control strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Design and develop SOPs and SOWs for geo-mechanical data and parameter generation across different rock and coal types.
-
Plan and supervise geo-mechanical sampling, preservation, transportation, and laboratory testing, ensuring data integrity and QA/QC.
-
Manage and coordinate with geo-mechanical laboratories and vendors to ensure compliance with global benchmark standards.
-
Conduct gap analysis of test data and guide additional parameter generation aligned with specific use cases.
-
Perform advanced geo-mechanical stress-strain, deformation, and failure modeling under varying pressure and temperature conditions using specialized software.
-
Execute numerical simulations (CFD / FEM / DEM-based tools) for stability analysis, subsidence assessment, and underground panel design support.
-
Interpret modeling outputs to recommend ground control and subsidence mitigation strategies.
-
Collaborate with geology, reservoir, drilling, and project teams to integrate geo-mechanical recommendations into design and planning.
-
Prepare technical reports, modeling documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
-
Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams, and build, mentor, and lead the geo-mechanics team to achieve project targets.
Qualifications & Skills:
-
Master’s degree in Geo-mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related discipline.
-
10–15 years of hands-on experience in geo-mechanical analysis and numerical modeling.
-
Strong fundamentals in rock mechanics, stress–strain behavior, failure mechanisms, and support design under differential pressure and temperature conditions.
-
Experience or exposure to subsurface/underground energy, mining, engineering, or geotechnical projects preferred.
-
Proficiency in numerical modeling and simulation tools used for geo-mechanical, geotechnical, and subsurface analysis.
-
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
