Lead Ground Systems Software Engineer

EOI Space is developing and deploying a network of satellites in Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) to provide ultra-high-resolution Earth imagery. We aim to deliver timely and actionable data for commercial and defense applications.

EOI Space is looking for a Lead Ground Systems Software Engineering to code, coordinate, and integrate the various components of our ground segment software systems. From planning and tasking to flight dynamics, to backhaul of massive quantities of image data, the ground segment is what connects our customers to our space vehicle constellation so we can deliver amazing image products.

What you will do:

• Coordinate, code, and lead core systems development – the infrastructure that allows us to command and control the satellites, interface with ground stations, securely manage and route image data to various customers, and integrate customer tasking with the constellation management systems at EOI Mission Operations Center

• Oversee various vendors and their integration tasks to blend the best of COTS, OSS, and in-house developed components

• Work hand in hand with Security, Export Compliance, and DevOps/Platform Engineering to ensure we can deploy and maintain ground systems that both customers and EOI mission operations staff work with

• Operate in a lean startup environment, maintaining a laser focus on the balance between what we need today and the things we are excited to add and enhance tomorrow

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deploy software to on-premises and cloud systems to support mission planning, tasking, flight dynamics, command and telemetry, image ordering and distribution, and health and safety management

• Work with the Software Architect, System Engineers, and Ground System SMEs to prioritize, implement, and track feature development for the core systems developed in house

• Interface with vendors to facilitate integration efforts between various components

• Comfortable operating in a lead engineer role; able to help prioritize, unblock, and coordinate the other engineers, UI/UX, and DevOps roles supporting the development activities

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field

• 7 – 10+ years total experience in professional software engineering, with 3-5 years spent working with satellite ground systems development, and at least 2 years as team lead for a group of 4 - 5 developers

• Relevant experience will include a mix of development and integration of commercial vendor Ground System products using technologies such as AWS cloud services, Kubernetes, Terraform, key management, network routing, time-series databases, COTS command and control software, Python, React, Grafana, Prometheus, etc.

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $160,000 - $210,000 per year, depending on previous experience. Pay ranges are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: interviews and an assessment of several factors that are unique to each candidate, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and internal equity.

Work Location:

This is a hybrid role requiring at least 3 days per week in office in Louisville, CO.
