Senior Software Engineer – Ruby / Elixir / AWS

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to design, develop, and test code for our API and data-based products. You will work on building new features, tools, and automated tests in a modern, cloud-based environment.

What You Will Do

• Design, develop, and test backend and full-stack applications.

• Build new APIs and data products.

• Develop tooling and support systems for existing products.

• Write clean, well-tested code with a strong focus on test coverage.

• Participate in code reviews using GitHub.

• Work in Agile teams using Jira for sprint planning and tracking.

• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and propose solutions.

• Be involved in the full development lifecycle: analysis, development, testing, deployment, and support.

• Take ownership of components, design patterns, test quality, or product areas.

• Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies.

Technology Stack

• Languages: Ruby, Elixir (functional programming experience required)

• Frameworks: Ruby on Rails (MVC)

• Cloud: Amazon Web Services (AWS)

• CI/CD: Jenkins

• Version Control: Git, GitHub

• Databases:

  • SQL: MySQL or PostgreSQL

  • NoSQL: experience preferred

• Messaging: Apache Kafka

• Containers: Docker

• Development Environment: Mac laptops provided

Testing & Quality

• Strong focus on automated testing

• Test-Driven Development (TDD) or commitment to high test coverage

• 1:1 test coverage for most of the codebase and higher coverage for critical areas

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.

• 5+ years of software development experience.

• Experience in full-stack web development and building data-driven products.

• Strong understanding of MVC architecture.

• Good experience working in team-based Git workflows.

• Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational databases.

• Experience with non-relational databases is a plus.

• Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Customer-focused mindset and willingness to take ownership.
