Job Summary

The Automation Tester cum SDET will be responsible for ensuring end‑to‑end quality of applications by designing, developing, and maintaining robust automated test solutions. This role blends hands‑on automation testing with SDET responsibilities, requiring strong programming skills (Java/Python), test design expertise, and close collaboration with development teams in an Agile environment.

Test Automation & SDET Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automation test frameworks and scripts for web, API, and backend applications using Selenium with BDD (Cucumber)
• Write clean, reusable, and maintainable automation code using Java or Python, following SDET best practices
• Review automation code and contribute to improving framework stability, scalability, and test coverage

Functional, API & Integration Testing

• Perform functional, regression, integration, and system testing
• Design, develop, and automate REST API tests
• Create and manage test data, mocks, and stubs as required
• Validate business requirements and acceptance criteria through comprehensive automated and manual test scenarios

Agile Collaboration & Quality Ownership

• Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, stand‑ups, reviews, retrospectives)
• Work closely with developers, product owners, and business analysts to ensure testability and quality of deliverables
• Contribute to defining and enforcing Definition of Done (DoD) from a quality perspective
• Act as a quality advocate, promoting shift‑left testing and automation‑first approaches

Defect Management & Reporting

• Identify, log, track, and validate defects using defect management tools
• Perform root cause analysis for defects and production issues
• Provide test metrics, automation coverage, and quality status reports to stakeholders

Technical Skills

• Strong hands‑on experience in Automation Testing
• Programming expertise in Java or Python
• Extensive experience with Selenium automation
• Strong hands‑on exposure to BDD frameworks – Cucumber
• Experience in REST API automation and testing
• Solid understanding of SDLC, STLC, test design techniques, and Agile methodologies
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, etc.)
• Proficiency with Git or other version control systems

Tools & Platforms

• Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps, etc.)
• Exposure to cloud or containerized environments is a plus
