Lead Landscaper & Head Gardener

Job Overview
Luminary Lawns is seeking a Lead Landscaper & Head Gardener to take ownership of our garden and light landscape projects across client properties. This is a hands-on field role that blends horticultural expertise with practical installation skills, ideal for someone who can both refine a space and build it.

You’ll be responsible for executing high-quality garden maintenance such as detailed weeding, pruning, and plant care, while also leading smaller landscape projects like sod installation, bed preparation, planting, and general property improvements. Most days you’ll work independently, with the opportunity to lead a helper when needed.

This role is perfect for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, understands how landscapes evolve over time, and can step confidently between maintenance and installation work. We’re looking for someone who treats each property like their own and brings both precision and problem-solving to the field.

What You'll Do

• Execute high-quality garden care and light landscape projects across assigned properties, working independently with a strong sense of ownership
• Perform detailed weeding, pruning, planting, mulching, edging, and ongoing bed maintenance with a focus on long-term plant health
• Lead small landscape installations including sod work, bed preparation, planting layouts, and general property improvements
• Maintain consistent, high-level quality without direct supervision, treating each property as your own
• Guide and support a helper when assigned, setting the pace and standard for the day
• Communicate job notes, progress, and property needs clearly using company apps
• Identify plant health issues, soil challenges, and opportunities for improvement, and recommend practical solutions
• Ensure every property is left noticeably cleaner, sharper, and better than when we arrived

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in garden maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture required
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple properties
• Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high quality work
• Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable operating with minimal supervision day to day
• Capable of making sound on-site decisions while staying aligned with the operations team
• Experience or comfort with tasks like sod installation, bed preparation, planting, and general landscape improvements
• Comfortable using mobile apps for scheduling, communication, and job notes
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work outdoors in changing weather

Bonus Points If You Have

• Proven experience in garden maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture, with confidence in both plant care and basic landscape installation
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and take full ownership of assigned properties
• Strong attention to detail with a clear standard for what high-quality work looks like
• Comfortable interacting with clients on site when needed
• Interest in sustainable or soil first property care
• Experience maintaining high quality or high end residential properties
