Responsibilities :

The ideal candidate should have proven experience of running and managing the day-to-day business operations of
Property, Engineering & Casualty underwriting in a large general insurance company.

Lead a team of Underwriting Managers, Assistant Underwriting Manager, Underwriting officers in day-to-day supervision and mentoring on the department’s underwriting operations.

Maintain, manage and develop relationships with new/existing corporate clients and brokers in Property, Engineering, Casualty and General Accident insurance products to achieve stickiness, business retention, profitable growth and superior service delivery.

Job responsibility includes liaising with various cross functional departments viz. reinsurance, claims, actuarial, finance, accounts, legal, compliance for smooth running of the business.

Ideal candidate is expected to have very good relationship in the reinsurance markets with leading reinsurance brokers and underwriters in London, DIFC and Singapore which would facilitate to obtain competitive reinsurance terms and placement support.

Job includes underwriting of good quality risks in line with the assigned underwriting authority including arranging facultative reinsurance where required and review of policy & endorsement wordings & contracts, ensuring technical accuracy of all transactions within the department in line with treaty and facultative reinsurance conditions and operations & authorities manual, handling audit queries, tracking of timeliness of documentation flow, supporting digitization efforts of the business operations and MIS reporting.

Assessment of risks and releasing quotations in line with the Company’s underwriting guidelines and reinsurance arrangement.

Ability to lead negotiations on major deals with Clients and Insurance Brokers.

Responsible for achieving annual department objectives with respect to topline growth and bottom-line profitability.

Ensure compliance with existing underwriting guidelines, processes and audit requirements

Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, tactful and ability to handle pressure should be the key qualities of the candidate.

An ideal candidate should have excellent technical knowledge, superior negotiation skills and proven leadership ability.

Must have good analytical ability to understand and handle complex insurance programs.
Educational and technical Qualifications:
-
BTech/Engineering graduates will be preferred
-
ACII or Dip CII or FIII are the minimum insurance qualification requirement
Experience:
-
Minimum 15 years’ experience in multi-line product underwriting with a major focus on Property & Engineering. Additional experience in Casualty, Liability and General Accident lines would be preferred.

Out of the total work experience minimum 10 years should be in a leadership role with the experience of managing a team of Underwriting Managers, Assistant Underwriting Managers and Underwriting Officer level of not less than 10 members.

Demonstrate ability to manage large portfolios in a profitable manner over a significant period.

People with less than 7 years’ vintage in their current organization should not apply.

GCC experience most preferred

The ideal candidate should be under 40 years old.
