What You Will Do
As a Lead Manufacturing Supervisor (Manufacturing Support Manager 1) at Los Alamos National Laboratory's Pit Technologies Division (PT-DO), you will play a crucial role in our national security mission by overseeing a skilled workforce engaged in complex, high-hazard manufacturing operations. You'll supervise multidisciplinary teams that directly support the production of plutonium pits - critical components that ensure the safety and reliability of the U.S. nuclear stockpile.

You'll partner with first-line managers to ensure operational excellence while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, and quality.
Manufacturing Support Manager 1:

Supervise and coordinate daily manufacturing activities, ensuring that mission-critical deliverables are met while maintaining exceptional safety standards
- Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and continuous learning that prioritizes worker safety, environmental protection and security
- Assist in building and growing strong teams to support plutonium pit production, mission objectives, and related services vital to national security
- Implement Integrated Safety Management principles, including empowering workers to pause/stop work when necessary and modeling exemplary safety behavior
- Ensure adherence to facility requirements, quality standards, and regulatory compliance across all operations
- Provide input on business performance metrics, resource management, and financial stewardship
- Promote effective partnering with other LANL organizations, coordination of resource planning, management and project execution, budget, and safety & security management
- Assist in organizing and supporting Division-wide efforts, while interacting with peers and others in strategic initiatives
- Foster and strengthen teams to support mission objectives
- Contribute to continuous process improvement, efficient and effective teams and support the PT-DO strategy
What You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:-
Experience supervising technical and non-technical personnel in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of business operations to include financial, human resources, procurement and/or other related business activities, and experience providing customer service
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements in operational support functions such as training, quality control, production control, or warehousing
- Understanding of facility requirements, including conduct of operations and integrated work management
- Demonstrated ability to plan and manage tactical execution of work
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to lead within a team environment
- Experience implementing safety protocols in complex operational environments
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and 1 year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:-
Experience in nuclear or high-hazard facilities
- Knowledge of weapons quality and nuclear safety requirements
- Background in continuous process improvement methodologies
- Experience managing staff and coordinating a variety of resources

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
- Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
