Lead Mental Health Clinician

Division/Program:

(Children/Youth Inpatient) Psychiatric Health Facility

Starting Compensation:

36.00 USD Per Hour

Working Location:

Bakersfield, CA

Working Hours/Shift:

Flexible Hybrid Work Schedule, 4-10 hours per week. Typical hours: 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM, with adjustments based on availability.

What you bring to SBHG:

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, child care counseling or development, or other related field.

  • Master's degree in social work.

  • (2) years direct service experience with severely emotionally disturbed adolescents, in an inpatient health care setting preferred.

  • Licensed as LCSW required.

How you will make a difference:

  • Assure all legal admission requirements are obtained for each new client. Involuntary 5150, voluntary by youth (Roger S), conservatorship, or clients signed in by parents/legal guardians.

  • Assure LPS Holds are completed daily (must be LPS Certified).

  • Work closely with social worker staff to assure that daily duties were completed including hearings.

  • Review treatment plans for interventions and effectiveness.

  • Provide consultation and support as needed regarding discharge planning.

  • Assure discharges are in compliance with title 22 regulations and families are provided a warm hand off to their follow up services.

  • Provide training and consultation regarding treatment of clients, discharge planning, case management, conservatorships, community placements, etc. as needed.

  • In collaboration with the Clinical Director, ensure that the PHF is in compliance with all Federal, State and local regulations pertaining to clinical mental health services and Patient’s Rights

  • Provide consultation as needed with families on issues regarding admission, discharge and aftercare plans.

  • Communicate to clients their legal status and rights under applicable law and acknowledge in writing their understanding of same.

  • Maintain a knowledge of community resources.

  • Coordinate client intake, treatment, and discharge actions with county partners.

Division/Program Overview:

  • 24/7 inpatient involuntary program

  • 16-bed facility for acute youth (ages 5-17)

  • Intensive treatment programs with individualized care plans

  • Available for contracting Central Valley counties

  • Moves clients through five phases: admission; engagement; learning; stabilization and linkage to resources and aftercare

In accordance with California law, the grade for this position is 26.16 - 41.85. Placement within the grade is determined based on experience, internal equity, and other factors permitted by law.
