The Lead NDT Quality Specialist is primarily responsible for conducting NDT and Welding Inspections and training according to specific codes and procedures to ensure quality, in existing and fabricated components. This individual will also establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection. Additionally, this individual will have the skills and knowledge to plan, organize and present classroom.
Lead position – Generally has more than 15 years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. A Lead specialist has a broad knowledge of the field’s standard and technical concepts, practices and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of standard complex, and technical tasks; is self-starting and requires no supervision.

Models and reinforces company policies/practices to ensure work is performed in alignment with the company’s mission, vision and values and in collaboration with other Holt functions
- Provides a significant amount of task and behavior-oriented mentoring, and training to other NDT Specialists to obtain quality workmanship and efficiency
- Inspect and document components coming into the facility, weld quality, fit up and layout of the product, and results of inspections of large components
- Assemble the final inspection report document for the components
- Provide internal/external clients with recommendations following inspections
- Provide feedback to CAT Support Manager or Shop Supervisor to improve quality and production
- Collaborates with management in making decisions, recommendations, commitments, and implements new ways of approaching projects
- Develops procedures and techniques for performing inspections
- Provides recommendations and approval for equipment needed to perform tasks, consulting CAT Support Manager on larger purchases
- Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
- Requires regular and punctual employee attendance

- Quality control analysis skills – conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality of performance and communicate findings
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent with additional specialized/technical training preferred
- More than 15 years work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is preferred
- NDT Testing Level 3: Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle, Penetrant, Visual
- Multiple Welding Certifications
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Travel:

Up to 25% travel required with overnight stays of up to three nights per month
Additional Requirements:
- Current and Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License required, with an acceptable driving record
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Periodic sitting, kneeling, crouching, stooping, balancing, climbing, and reaching
- Frequently communicates with customers, CAT Support Manager, Shop Supervisor, and co-workers
- Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
Work Environment:
- May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
- Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
- Regularly works outdoor around moving mechanical parts
- Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment
