Hometown Pharmacy is seeking a dependable, experienced, and customer-focused Lead Pharmacy Technician to support our pharmacists and oversee daily technician operations. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about patient care, thrives in a leadership capacity, and is committed to fostering a positive and efficient pharmacy environment.
As a Lead Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in both patient experience and pharmacy operations, while also providing guidance and support to the technician team:
Deliver exceptional customer service—greet and assist patients in person and over the phone
Accurately enter patient information and prescription orders into the system
Prepare prescriptions by counting, labeling, and packaging medications
Process and submit insurance claims; assist with troubleshooting complex billing issues
Oversee daily workflow and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and accurately
Provide training, mentorship, and ongoing support to pharmacy technicians
Assist with scheduling, task delegation, and workflow coordination in collaboration with the pharmacist
Support inventory management, including ordering, stocking, and maintaining appropriate medication levels
Ensure the pharmacy maintains a clean, organized, and professional environment
Serve as a resource for team members regarding systems, processes, and best practices
Build strong relationships with patients and contribute to a welcoming, patient-centered atmosphere
Develop and maintain advanced knowledge of medications, including brand/generic names and common uses
Assist with over-the-counter products and register functions as needed
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and support a team
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

High school diploma or GED (required)
Active Pharmacy Technician registration/licensure as required by state law (required)
Previous pharmacy technician experience (required)
Prior leadership or supervisory experience (preferred)
Adhere to all company policies, professional standards, and confidentiality requirements (including HIPAA)
Maintain ethical and compliant pharmacy practices
Support a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Complete all required training and continuing education
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds
