Lead Pharmacy Technician

Hometown Pharmacy is seeking a dependable, experienced, and customer-focused Lead Pharmacy Technician to support our pharmacists and oversee daily technician operations. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about patient care, thrives in a leadership capacity, and is committed to fostering a positive and efficient pharmacy environment.

What You’ll Do

As a Lead Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in both patient experience and pharmacy operations, while also providing guidance and support to the technician team:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service—greet and assist patients in person and over the phone

  • Accurately enter patient information and prescription orders into the system

  • Prepare prescriptions by counting, labeling, and packaging medications

  • Process and submit insurance claims; assist with troubleshooting complex billing issues

  • Oversee daily workflow and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and accurately

  • Provide training, mentorship, and ongoing support to pharmacy technicians

  • Assist with scheduling, task delegation, and workflow coordination in collaboration with the pharmacist

  • Support inventory management, including ordering, stocking, and maintaining appropriate medication levels

  • Ensure the pharmacy maintains a clean, organized, and professional environment

  • Serve as a resource for team members regarding systems, processes, and best practices

  • Build strong relationships with patients and contribute to a welcoming, patient-centered atmosphere

  • Develop and maintain advanced knowledge of medications, including brand/generic names and common uses

  • Assist with over-the-counter products and register functions as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (required)

  • Active Pharmacy Technician registration/licensure as required by state law (required)

  • Previous pharmacy technician experience (required)

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience (preferred)

Work Expectations

  • Maintain ethical and compliant pharmacy practices

  • Support a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement

  • Complete all required training and continuing education

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds
