Position Summary:
The lead pharmacy technician supports the retail pharmacy by directing daily technician activities, ensuring prescriptions are filled accurately and efficiently, and maintaining a high level of customer service. This role trains and mentors technicians, assigns tasks, and helps troubleshoot workflow issues at the drop‑off, data entry, filling, and pickup stations. They help support inventory processes as a backup to the Inventory Technician. The lead technician works closely with the pharmacists to uphold safety, accuracy, and regulatory requirements while helping create a smooth, patient‑friendly experience in a fast‑paced retail environment.
Responsibilities:
- Role model for and the main point of contact regarding new hires and technical staff.

Back up to Inventory Technician duties in event of need.

Accurately interprets, transcribes and dispenses orders/prescriptions, under the direction of a Pharmacist.

Performs billing, pricing, record keeping and provision of services required to meet regulatory requirements.

Ensures that routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames.

Maintains services in line with operational policies and procedures, workflows, and practice expectations.

May be asked to incorporate new duties due to program growth.

Maintains a clean, neat, and safe working environment by complying with policies, procedures and regulations.

Maintains strictest confidence of all patient Protected Health Information (PHI) and protects all PHI from accidental, intentional, or inappropriate disclosure
Qualifications:
Required

Currently licensed as a Pharmacy Technician by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.

At minimum - 2 years of previous pharmacy experience required.

Certification as a pharmacy technician through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
Preferred

Experience with Epic electronic medical record and Rx30 pharmacy system

Other medical or clerical trainings or experiences.
