What You’ll Be Doing:
- Planning and leading hands-on, age-appropriate learning experiences for a group of 15 children who will transition to kindergarten.
- Supporting social-emotional growth and early academic readiness through play and a positive approach to discipline.
- Encouraging collaboration, problem solving, and peer friendships by maintaining a positive workplace culture focused on team work and open communication.
- Collaborating with float staff, assistant teachers, other Lead staff and families to support every child’s growth and center operations.
- Creating a classroom that celebrates culture, identity, and kindness.
Job Duties
Curriculum & Instruction
- Design and implement creative, developmentally appropriate lesson plans grounded in early learning standards and play-based philosophy.
- Facilitate whole group, small group, and individual activities that build skills in language, math, motor development, early science, and self-expression.
- Create engaging learning centers with rotating themes, materials, and provocations to spark inquiry and discovery.
- Observe children’s interests and adjust the environment and activities to promote exploration, autonomy, and growth.
Social-Emotional & Behavioral Support
- Foster a classroom culture rooted in kindness, empathy, and curiosity.
- Support children in expressing emotions, solving conflicts, and practicing problem-solving using positive guidance and restorative practices.
- Encourage and celebrate successes in building new skills, self care routines and early academics.
Family Engagement
- Maintain open, respectful communication with families through daily updates, progress reports, and regular conferences.
- Share photos, anecdotes, and developmental insights to keep families connected to the classroom experience.
- Support family participation and culturally inclusive celebrations that honor every child’s background.
Classroom Management & Compliance
- Help set up and maintain a welcoming, organized, and developmentally rich classroom space.
- Assist in ensuring all materials, toys, and supplies meet licensing and safety standards.
- Aid in regular toy rotations, documentation of assessments, incident reports, attendance, and meal logs.
- Support a positive and respectful team environment
Professional Growth & Leadership
- Participate in staff meetings, regular trainings, and professional development.
- Stay informed on best practices in early childhood education, and support the Lead Teacher in implementing equity and inclusion strategies.
- Model Culturally Growing’s values through consistent, respectful communication and a growth-oriented mindset.
What You Bring:
- High school diploma or equivalent (CDA or ECE credits preferred)
- At least 2 years of childcare or related experience
- Deep understanding of child development and positive guidance strategies.
- Big patience, even bigger heart, and the flexibility of a yoga instructor
- CPR/First Aid Certification and Basic Childcare Training Courses (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of employment)
