We are seeking a dynamic, self-driven Lead Preschool Teacher to take full operational and creative ownership of our high-quality, certified in-home family childcare program. In this role, you are the "main character" of the classroom. You will lead a group of 10-16 preschoolers, designing the daily flow, crafting intentional learning environments, and managing the classroom completely independently.

Solid Foundation currently has 2 support staff and is looking for a Lead Preschool Teacher who can take initiative to positively impact the students and connected families.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Leadership: Act as the primary leader for preschool students, managing 6+ hours of active, high-quality daily student engagement. Able to delegate and follow through verbally and through action.

Curriculum & Environment: Plan intentional daily activities, organize lessons, set developmental goals, and actively adapt the physical environment to meet student and staff needs.Licensing & Compliance: Maintain a strict state-licensing safety mindset, ensuring the classroom is permanently "observation-ready" and fully compliant with family childcare regulations.Communication & Engagement: Maintain constant, professional communication with the owner, lead the parent engagement strategy, manage progress-tracking systems, and coordinate the end-of-year graduation.

Requirements & Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Lead Teacher in a licensed preschool or childcare setting. This is non-negotiable. We are looking for a Lead Teacher who doesn't need a lot of training, understands child development, and has a love for teaching.

Deep knowledge of state licensing regulations for certified family childcare.

Proven ability to take initiative, solve problems independently, and work without direct supervision.

Strong background in lesson planning, child observation, and developmental tracking.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for daily parent and owner updates.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute comprehensive lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards, including literacy, math, physical education, and Montessori methods.
• Lead daily classroom activities that promote child development in areas such as social skills, emotional regulation, language acquisition, and motor skills.
• Manage classroom environments to ensure safety, cleanliness, and organization while fostering an engaging learning atmosphere.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about their child's progress, milestones, and any behavioral or developmental concerns.
• Implement behavior management strategies that encourage positive interactions and emotional growth among children.
• Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws related to child welfare and safety protocols.
• Supervise assistant staff or caregivers when applicable, providing mentorship and guidance to uphold high-quality care standards.
• Maintain detailed records of lesson plans, child assessments, incident reports, and program documentation.
• Stay current with best practices in early childhood education, including special education techniques and early intervention strategies.
• Promote inclusive practices that support children with diverse needs and backgrounds.

Skills

• Extensive knowledge of curriculum development tailored for preschool-aged children across various educational philosophies.
• Proven experience working with children in daycare or preschool settings with a strong understanding of childhood development principles.
• Strong classroom management skills to create structured yet flexible learning environments.
• Excellent communication skills for effective parent engagement and team collaboration.
• Ability to develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math concepts, physical activities, and social-emotional learning.
• Familiarity with special education needs and early intervention techniques to support diverse learners.
• Certification in first aid and CPR to ensure child safety at all times.
• Knowledge of mandated reporting laws related to child abuse or neglect.
• Experience working with toddlers as well as preschoolers to foster age-specific developmental milestones.
• Ability to implement behavior management strategies that promote positive behavior and emotional regulation.
• Strong organizational skills for maintaining accurate records of child progress and program activities.
• Passion for early childhood education combined with a nurturing approach that supports child welfare and family engagement.

Pay: $23.16 - $30.00 per hour
