Job Summary:

LaPlaya is seeking an upbeat, detail oriented person, to be a welcoming Lead Host/Hostess to Baleen our fine dining beach front restaurant. In this role you will lead the team in setting the tone from the start, for the guest's dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Guest Reception: Greet and welcome guests warmly, ascertain their dining preferences and determine optimal seating arrangements.
• Reservation Management: Maintain and update the seating chart, manage reservations, and coordinate with management, culinary and the serving team to ensure a smooth flow of service.
• Service Oversight: Ensure you and your team, are ready to direct diners to their tables, provide menus, and communicate specials and promotions.
• Staff Support: As the Lead Host/Hostess, work with the team to ensure they are able to confidently and efficiently greet guests, respond to questions, set reservations and understand the floor layout for optimal seating.
• Conflict Resolution: Working together with Management, address and resolve any guest complaints or issues promptly and efficiently.
• Ambiance Management: Ensure that dining room, and beach front dining areas are clean, organized, and visually appealing to guests.

Requirements:

• Experience: A minimum of two years experience working in a fast paced fine dining restaurant.
• Interpersonal Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively in English and develop a rapport with guests.
• Knowledge of Menu: Familiarity with the menu options, including beverage offerings to assist guests with recommendations.

Work Environment:

• As a Lead Host/Hostess, you will be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays, in a hotel restaurant dining room setting.
• Must be able to walk, stand, climb stairs for prolonged periods of time.
