Lead Server/Bartender

The Historic Radisson Duluth Hotel is now accepting applications for Servers for our rotating Restaurant, Harbor 360. The qualified candidate will have an outgoing personality, be a team player, and have experience as a server. We are looking for all shifts, DAYS/NIGHTS/WEEKENDS.

Duties

REPORTS TO: General Manager/Assistant Manager/Restaurant Manager

JOB SUMMARY: The Lead Server is an integral member of the restaurant team that creates distinctively different and authentic experiences for our guests. They are servers that take on additional responsibilities for floor management during shifts when a manager or supervisor is not the responsible party for the restaurant due to business demands and/or scheduling of management. They are responsible for the overall guest experience to include, assisting with greeting guests, taking orders, serving food and beverages, and checking on guest satisfaction. In addition, the lead server will take on shift management responsibilities, cash handling, opening/closing, cutting staff, ensuring side work is done, getting people off the clock, and locking up. They will not be responsible for any employee discipline but will report all incidents to the General Manager or Restaurant Manager regarding employee performance and duties as assigned. In addition to all the duties required by the “Server” job description, the following may apply. ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILTIES: Coordinate work activities among all front-of-house service staff to ensure better flow of service; liaise with back-of-house staff to expedite service. Support the training of team members to ensure consistency in the steps of service. Ability to open and close the restaurant in compliance with all management opening/closing procedures to include cash handling. Provide direction and guidance to all front-of-house service staff in the absence of a supervisor or a manager to include delegation of opening/closing duties and side work as designated by established procedures for both the FOH and BOH. Touch tables during the shift to check on guests and expedite service. Resolve guest issues encountered by the service staff in the absence of a supervisor or a manager. Manager access and abilities on the POS in the absence of a supervisor or a manager. Maintain complete knowledge of restaurant computer systems. Extensive knowledge of all menu items, prices, and specifications. The ability to Expo when business demands. Know and follow federal and state laws and company policies related to the sale of alcohol. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of service stations and areas. Knows and abides by all company, Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Programs. Works extra shifts and hours as dictated by business demands. Complete and/or delegate cleaning projects as required. Knowledge of the surrounding area. All other duties as assigned by management. Assists in other departments throughout the restaurant as needed due to staffing levels, business demands and as schedules dictate. Page 2 of 2 TOOLS, TECHNOLOGY, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: Open/Close the fiscal day. Accurately and efficiently handle cash, tips, comps, reports, etc. as required by the corporate office. Toast. Have a level of understanding and ability to modify items, train new and existing staff on Toast, troubleshoot issues that arise. Tock – Have the ability to take, modify, seat, enter and control reservations. Assign tables and customer counts correctly for tracking. Be able to train new staff and current staff. Customer relations. Handle customer issues with a professional demeanor, know who to go to with issues that cannot be handled at the moment. Work with staff. Be a mentor and leader with the staff. Lead by example in attitude, actions, work pace and abilities. The ability to think on one’s feet and work through the situations that arise in restaurants
