As a Lead Software Engineer supporting the Resource Management Subtask under the HPDA Task, you will design, build, and maintain systems that manage access to high-performance computing (HPC) resources across a large, multi-tenant containerized environment. You’ll take ownership of software solutions that enable secure and efficient operations within Kubernetes and AWS. Schedule and Work Details

• Location: Split time between NBP 135 and NBP 324

• Telework: 16 hours per week, based on tasking

• Schedule: Full-time

Here's What Your Day-to-Day Might Include

• Design, develop, and maintain software to manage access to HPC resources in a multi-tenant Kubernetes environment

• Write and maintain Bash and Python scripts for system automation and integration

• Develop REST interfaces using FastAPI to support internal APIs and microservices

• Install, configure, and sustain COTS, GOTS, and FOSS software in Linux environments

• Administer Kubernetes clusters in AWS and automate provisioning with Ansible and Terraform

• Build and support CI/CD pipelines using GitLab

• Monitor performance and reliability with Grafana and Prometheus

• Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable and secure HPC solutions

Minimum Qualifications

Clearance: Top Secret Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (must be active). We do not have the ability to sponsor clearances.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen. We cannot sponsor visas.

Education and Experience:

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus ten (10) years of experience, or

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus twelve (12) years of experience, or

• Fourteen (14) years of software engineering experience in programs of similar scope and complexity

Required Skills

• Linux CLI and system administration experience

• Bash and Python scripting for automation and sustainment

• Installation and support of COTS/GOTS/FOSS software in Linux environments

• REST API development using FastAPI

• Docker, Podman, and containerd containerization

• Kubernetes cluster management and orchestration in AWS

• Infrastructure as Code automation using Ansible and Terraform

• CI/CD development using GitLab

• System monitoring with Grafana and Prometheus

• Source control with Git

Desired Skills

• Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence)

• Web development with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and React

• HPC workload management systems (Slurm)

• ArgoCD, Airflow, SQL, and JupyterLab experience

• Big Data frameworks such as Spark

• Identity and Access Management (IAM) using Keycloak

Compensation Range: $191,000.00 - $252,000.00

• The salary range provided reflects an estimate based on current market trends and may be adjusted based on factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. The final offer will be tailored after a thorough evaluation of the candidate’s background and suitability for the role.
