Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Lead Specialist (Assessment).

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager Assessment, you will be responsible for:
  • providing academic and technical expertise for the design, development, review, and evaluation of assessments for SSC and HSSC levels
  • ensuring that all assessments align with AKU-EB’s learning outcomes, cognitive rigor, and validity standards, while promoting innovation, fairness, and equity in assessment practices.
  • maintaining security and confidentiality of examinations and related data
  • developing and reviewing examination papers, mark schemes, rubrics, and related assessment tools
  • overseeing quality assurance processes including item moderation, review panels, and validation
  • guiding and supporting item writers, subject specialists, and assessment personnel
  • conducting post-exam analyses, reviewing item statistics, and leading reliability and validity studies
  • coordinating standard-setting activities and grade boundary meetings
  • leading and participating in research studies related to assessment
  • planning SOPs for result compilation and quality assurance, and ensuring timely, accurate completion of related tasks
  • co-developing Middle School and Primary School Projects
  • analyzing Middle School and Primary School Programme assessment results and preparing comprehensive reports
  • mentoring data analysts to ensure quality and accuracy in assessments and reporting
  • contributing to the development of assessment policies, procedures, and training modules
  • exploring and integrating innovative assessment models, including digital, formative, and school-based approaches
  • benchmarking AKU-EB practices against international standards
  • developing and implementing training modules for assessment personnel
  • engaging with schools, teachers, and policymakers to build assessment literacy through workshops, seminars, and orientations
  • representing AKU-EB in national and international academic forums.

Requirements:
You should have:
  • Master’s degree in educational assessment, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • at least 5–7 years of experience in educational assessment or test design (preferably in an examination board)
  • strong understanding of assessment theories, psychometrics, and item-writing principles
  • leadership, analytical, and communication skills
  • experience supervising academic teams and managing assessment projects
  • proficiency in MS Office, SPSS, and database tools
  • strong skills in data analysis, research, and report writing
  • ability to meet deadlines accurately and reliably
  • commitment to quality, integrity, and ethical assessment practices
  • fluency in English and Urdu.
