About the team

A role in Corporate Compliance and Ethics means providing support and managing key compliance areas for Target including stores, distribution centers and at headquarters. You will also be a part of helping Target maintain a positive work environment by coordinating efforts in its Ethics office.

Position Overview:

As a Lead Compliance Specialist you will manage areas of the Records Management Compliance Program to ensure Target remains in compliance with our privacy and records regulatory obligations. This position will guest and team member personal information disclosure deletion and correction requests, as well as the underlying processes and tools..

  • Drive the consumer disclosure and deletion request process by analysing and authenticating incoming requests from Team Members and guests, coordinating data retrieval, disclosure reports and data purges, and ensuring appropriate documentation of processed requests
  • Administer the personal health (including prescription) record request process by fielding incoming requests and corresponding with law firms, regulators, and guests, facilitating records retrieval, organizing and preparing data for release, and invoicing the requestor for service
  • Support department process development, improvement and maintenance to ensure timely, efficient, compliant and repeatable Records Management and destruction practices; participate in department projects to drive efficiencies and eliminate opportunity for manual error by researching, vetting and implementing automation tools and technology
  • Identify relevant metrics and prepare regular reporting or presentations to department leadership to support decision making, influence process changes, and track request volume and program activities
  • Establish and maintain key relationships within the Compliance & Risk organizations, with cross-functional leaders and business records contacts, and with external business partners and vendors in order to adequately manage and respond to external records requests
  • Other duties as assigned

About You:

  • Four year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience within Records Management, Privacy, Risk or other related Compliance functions, including specific exposure to privacy regulations (ie CCPA and HIPAA) and public requests for information; previous retail operations experience and certification in healthcare records and information management preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to opine in meetings, , S, establish rapport and collaborate effectively across departments and externally
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to leverage data to influence decisions, identify risks and improvement opportunities, and distill complex issues into actionable plans
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining appropriate prioritization and ensuring adherence to deadlines
  • Ability to apply discretion and sensitivity while working with confidential information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Ability to adapt to change and navigate a dynamic, fast paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
