Lead STEM Instructor

Do you love working with kids and making learning exciting? Whiz Kid Academy is looking for enthusiastic, reliable Lead STEM Instructors to bring our signature LEGO-based enrichment programs to life in schools and community settings across the region.

In this role, you’ll be the face of our program—leading hands-on building challenges, sparking curiosity, and helping students develop real-world skills like collaboration, creative problem-solving, and critical thinking. No two sessions are the same, and that’s what makes this job fun.

What You’ll Do

• Plan and lead engaging LEGO-based STEM lessons and building challenges tailored to different age groups (PreK–8th grade).
• Create an inclusive, energetic classroom environment where every student feels seen, supported, and excited to learn.
• Adapt activities in real time based on student needs, skill levels, and energy.
• Supervise students throughout sessions with a focus on safety, behavior, and positive community.
• Serve as a mentor and role model—celebrating student wins, offering encouragement, and modeling a growth mindset.
• Collaborate with your co-instructor and WKA team to deliver a consistent, high-quality program experience.
• Participate in community events such as STEM Family Nights, back-to-school nights, and end-of-session showcases.
• Keep accurate records of attendance, participation, and any incidents.
• Assist with setup, cleanup, and care of LEGO materials and supplies.

Who You Are

• You genuinely enjoy working with children and have experience in education, childcare, tutoring, or a youth-serving role.
• You’re energetic, patient, and adaptable—comfortable managing a classroom and pivoting when needed.
• You have a passion for STEM, hands-on learning, or creative play.
• You communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, and parents.
• You’re a team player who shows up on time, follows through, and takes pride in doing great work.
• You hold a high school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in education, child development, or a STEM field is a plus.
• CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain before start date).

Requirements

• Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license (travel between school sites required).
• Personal laptop for lesson prep and administrative tasks.
• Ability to stand, walk, and actively participate in sessions throughout the day.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs of materials.
