Position Overview

Big Dreams Child Care Center is seeking a warm, nurturing, and dependable Lead Teacher to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education, committed to creating a safe and engaging classroom environment, and able to lead with professionalism, patience, and positivity.

Lead Teachers are responsible for managing the daily classroom experience, supporting children’s developmental growth, maintaining strong communication with families, and ensuring classrooms operate in accordance with all center policies and licensing requirements.

ResponsibilitiesClassroom Leadership

  • Lead and manage daily classroom activities and routines
  • Create a safe, positive, and nurturing learning environment
  • Implement age-appropriate lesson plans and educational activities
  • Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
  • Maintain classroom structure, cleanliness, and organization

Child Supervision & Care

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times
  • Monitor children’s behavior and development
  • Assist with meals, nap time, diapering, potty training, and transitions as needed
  • Maintain proper classroom ratios and active supervision practices

Communication & Family Engagement

  • Maintain professional and positive communication with families
  • Provide daily updates regarding children’s activities and progress
  • Address parent questions and concerns professionally
  • Work collaboratively with leadership and classroom support staff

Compliance & Professionalism

  • Follow all DOHMH and center policies and procedures
  • Maintain accurate classroom records and documentation
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development
  • Ensure classroom compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards

Qualifications

  • Previous childcare or classroom experience preferred
  • Enrolled/completed courses in Early Childhood Education
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Warm, patient, and professional demeanor
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred
  • Experience with Brightwheel is a plus
