Job Summary/Basic Functions
Early Childhood Curriculum Specialist (Lead Teacher) plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for an inclusive classroom of 8-12 children and create a safe, positive, and nurturing learning environment. Early Childhood Curriculum Specialist conducts daily observations of children's learning, modifies activities to ensure participation of all children including those with disabilities, and documents child development. The Early Childhood Curriculum Specialist collaborates with other center staff to develop instructional plans and communicates effectively with families. The Early Childhood Curriculum Specialist is able to bend and lift young children in and out of cribs, high chairs, and carry them to safety if necessary and actively engage young infants and toddlers at their level during daily activities. The Trainee works cooperatively with the Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher to plan and implement the daily education program for the children. Under the reflective supervision of the Lead Teacher, the Trainee will execute classroom activities and help maintain a classroom environment that is developmentally appropriate and meets the individual needs of children as mandated by federal, state, accreditation and local standards, and that reflects the philosophy of HDC.

This is a multi-level posting and candidates who have education and/or experience beyond the minimum will be considered for the advanced levels.
Assistant Teacher requires an Associates degree or CDA with experience, Lead Teacher requires a Bachelor’s degree.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor's
Required Field of Study: Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or related field
Number of years required to perform the job: One for lead, 0 for assistant teacher or teacher trainee
Type of experience required to perform the job: classroom experience in early care and education.
Substitution: Lead teacher is acceptable with a Masters in Early Childhood related field and no experience. Assistant teacher candidates will be considered with a CDA and 2 years experience working in childcare or an Associates degree in early childhood or related degree with 12 months of experience in early childhood. Trainee requires a high school diploma and needs to receive the CDA within 12 months of employment.
