ABOUT THIS POSITION


The Aviation Department Technology Division is seeking to fill a vacant Lead User Technology Specialist position. The fundamental purpose of this position is to oversee technology support of Airport Information Systems at Sky Harbor International Airport. Additionally, this position will manage technical staff responsible for Airport Information Systems. Technical staff consists of (3) three Senior User Technology Specialist, (1) User Technology Specialist and (12) Desktop Field Technicians on three shifts.

This position is responsible to provide 24x7x365 support for critical airport business systems such as common use passenger processing, common use self-service, flight information displays, audio and visual paging, flight information displays, ticket counters, and gates and an airport after hours helpdesk function. This position will be reporting to the Lead Information Technology Systems Specialist.

Key job duties:

  • Manage team of (3) three Senior User Technology Specialist, (1) User Technology Specialist and (12) Desktop Field Technicians on three shifts.
  • Serve as technical lead on new and existing technology initiatives related to common use and terminal technology.
  • Manages relationships with internal and external stakeholders including airlines.
  • Oversight of lifecycle replacement of passenger facing hardware.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive periodic maintenance schedule for passenger facing technology.
  • Onboard new common use airlines by coordinating airline user acceptance testing.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Proficient in vendor contract compliance and monitoring.
  • Proficient with managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders including airlines.
  • Proficient with onboarding new common use airlines by coordinating airline user acceptance testing.
  • Proficient developing and managing preventative maintenance schedules for passenger facing technology.

SALARY


Pay Range: $90,916.80 to $121,825.60 annually.

Hiring Range: $90,916.80 to $116,022.40 annually.

Internal Only: Please understand that this is pay grade 064. If selected, your salary offer will be based on the applicable promotion or demotion worksheet in accordance with the City Pay Ordinance.

  • Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
  • Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
  • Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of professional level experience providing technical support for system infrastructure and/or software, plus one year working in a large-scale environment and supervising highly technical staff.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, electronic systems engineering or a related technical field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
  • Working conditions:
    • Working irregular hours, second, and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Two plus years of experience:
    • Supporting paging systems.
    • Working in a large-scale airport environment.
    • Supporting lifecycle replacement of passenger facing hardware.
    • Managing 1000 or more end devices in a enterprise environment.
    • Supporting technology initiatives related to common use and terminal technology.
    • With helpdesk ticketing systems like ServiceNow including creating custom reports.
  • Five plus years of technical experience in computer systems and hardware support.
