Lead Video Editor — YouTube Content Agency (Columbus, OH area)

We're a boutique YouTube growth studio that builds content engines for personal brands, coaches, and professional service businesses. Our clients don't post videos for fun. They use YouTube as a client acquisition system. We handle everything from strategy and scripting to editing, distribution, and backend conversion infrastructure.

We currently manage content for 8+ active clients across industries including real estate, coaching, health and wellness, food service, and lifestyle media. The founder handles all sales, client relationships, and strategic direction. We need someone to own everything that happens between "here's the creative brief" and "the client's video is live."

This is not an editing gig with a fancy title. This is the person who runs the production side of the business.

What You'll Own

Direct production work across client accounts. You'll edit video, cut short form content, build thumbnails, draft scripts from strategic briefs, and handle uploads and optimization. Some clients are straightforward (simple edits, weekly uploads). Others require more involved production with custom graphics, voiceover integration, and multi-platform distribution. You'll know which is which because you'll be close to every account.

Managing freelance editors. As client volume grows, you won't edit everything yourself. You'll hire, train, and manage overseas freelance editors for specific accounts. You're responsible for their output quality, their deadlines, and making sure nothing ships to a client without meeting our standard.

Distribution and publishing. Videos go live on time, every time. Titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails, end screens, and platform-specific formatting are your responsibility. You'll manage publishing schedules across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook depending on the client.

Client deliverable management. You'll track what's owed to every client each month, flag when raw footage is late, keep production moving on schedule, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks across 8+ accounts simultaneously.

Quality control. Every piece of content that leaves this operation goes through you before it reaches the client. You're the last set of eyes.

What the Founder Still Handles

Sales and new client acquisition. Discovery calls and client relationship management. Strategic direction and content planning for each account. Script review and approval. Voiceover work where needed. Creative vision and brand positioning.

Your job is to turn that strategic direction into finished, published content without the founder touching it again until the next strategy session.

You're a Strong Fit If

You edit video proficiently in Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, or DaVinci Resolve. You don't need to be a motion graphics wizard, but you need to produce clean, professional YouTube content without hand-holding.

You understand YouTube as a platform. Not just editing, but how titles, thumbnails, retention curves, and search optimization work together to grow a channel. You've either run a channel yourself or worked closely with someone who does.

You've managed freelancers or a small team before. Even informally. You know how to give clear feedback, set deadlines, and hold people accountable without micromanaging.

You can juggle multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously without dropping anything. This role requires you to context-switch between very different brands and industries throughout the week.

You take ownership. If something is behind schedule, you flag it and fix it before anyone asks. If a freelance editor delivers subpar work, you either coach them up or replace them. You don't wait for instructions when the next step is obvious.

Bonus Points

Experience with GoHighLevel, ManyChat, or similar automation and funnel tools. Some clients at higher tiers include backend conversion infrastructure, and your ability to build landing pages, email sequences, or DM automations would expand what we can offer.

Experience creating short form content (Reels, Shorts, TikTok) from long form YouTube videos. This is a core part of the deliverable for most clients.

Familiarity with content strategy for coaches, consultants, or professional service businesses. You don't need to be a strategist, but understanding how educational content drives client acquisition makes the work easier.

Structure and Compensation

This starts as a contractor role at $3,500–$5,000/month depending on experience and skill depth. The intent is to convert to a full-time salaried position ($45K–$60K/year) once we've worked together long enough to confirm the fit.

Remote is fine. If you happen to be in the Columbus, Ohio area, that's a plus but not a requirement.

Hours are flexible within reason. Deadlines are not. Client deliverables ship on time regardless of when you choose to work.

How to Apply

  • One sentence on why this role interests you more than a standard freelance editing gig.
