Job Summary
The Learning & Data Technology Specialist, jointly housed within the Graduate School and the Office of Academic Success departments, is responsible for designing and implementing emerging technologies that enhance academic support, integrate institutional data systems, and strengthen student success across both divisions at UT Tyler. The position oversees the development of bridge applications, learning-analytics tools, and an AI-driven, closed-system Virtual Teaching Assistant that provides secure, course-specific support. Through strategic leadership in instructional technology, AI integration, and academic informatics, the position advances innovative, data-informed solutions that enhance the effectiveness of academic success at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Specialist divides their time between the Graduate School and the Office of Academic Success, reporting to the Academic Success Coordinator for the undergraduate unit and the Director of Graduate Program Support for the graduate unit.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
