The Nuclear Safety and Operations Training Group (NSOT) seeks a highly skilled Learning Specialist to directly support the management and delivery of training programs in support of Nuclear and High-hazard Readiness Operations. In this role, you will be deployed to support The National Criticality Experiments Research Center Facility Operations in a hybrid capacity.
In this role you will:
- Analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate training programs in alignment with regulatory requirements and contractual obligations.

Represent the organization during regulatory reviews and assessments.

Apply advanced knowledge and expertise to influence training strategies and outcomes across the lab.

Contribute to the development of training objectives and methodologies in innovative and effective ways.

Lead the development of advanced training concepts, standards, and best practices.

Use broad discretion and independent judgment to achieve results, with wide latitude in approach and execution.

Support mission success by driving improvements in future training concepts, technologies, and delivery methods.

Work with customers, stakeholders and regulators; analyzing, designing, developing and implementing sustainable, compliant qualification standards, procedures, forms, templates, and/or plans for nuclear facilities and programs.

Create and maintain training documents and records.

Assisting with developing, implementing, and maintaining compliant and high-quality course materials such as live classroom, on-the-job and/or web-based training for diverse audiences.
- Perform classroom training and instruction as assigned.

Research complex training and learning issues and recommend sound, practical solutions.

Be familiar with UTrain.

Contribute to the organization's overall goals and objectives.

Apply knowledge of DOE orders pertaining to training.
- Apply knowledge of Laboratory policies and procedures pertaining to training.
- Mentor, coach, and train other staff within the field.
What You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:Knowledge and Expertise
Familiarity with integrated safety, formality of operations, compliance, performance, safety basis, readiness, configuration management, work control, and continuous improvement. Advanced knowledge of high-hazard operations in a nuclear facility setting. Experience with training and/or mentoring others in various technical operations.
Performance
Experience planning and organizing training programs with internal and external stakeholders. Seasoned professional in handling multiple competing priorities in a complex, fast-paced operational environment.
Accountability
Advanced knowledge in working with confidential or proprietary information, classified documents or sensitive information, including PII training records. Strong understanding of safety and security requirements to individual responsibility and as applicable to training activities.
Communication and Customer Service
Advanced skill with interpersonal, written and verbal communications. Proven experience in transferring knowledge effectively to both technical and non-technical personnel. Provide excellent customer service.
Education/Experience: The Learning Specialist 3 requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
DOE O 426.2A: Requires a Baccalaureate Degree and 1 year of job-related experience. Instructional Technologists should have a baccalaureate degree in Training or Education. Training or education for instructional technologists must include courses on the SAT process including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Additionally, instructional technologist training may include evaluation of training materials, instructor evaluation, and training and qualification program assessment.
Desired Qualifications:-
Training Staff Qualification Program (TSQP) qualified, or ability to become qualified.

Expertise in nuclear facility-related subject matter areas (e.g. radiation protection, criticality safety, nuclear material control accountability, integrated safety, conduct of operations, engineering, maintenance).
Active DOE Q-Clearance.
Work Environment:This position will work in both an administrative office environment, as well as a hands-on training environment with the ability to telework depending on the assigned customer's preference.
Work Schedule:This work schedule may be 9/80, 5/8, or 4/10 at the discretion of management.
Work Location:The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional DetailsDirective 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
