Responsibilities
The tasks of the Legal Advisor will include, but is not limited to:

Handling a range of multi-disciplinary, highly complex and legal matters involving issues relating to international law.

Researching and drafting legal advice on matters of international law to stakeholders within the Organization.

Preparing and reviewing reports for other departments within the Ministry.

Briefing and providing oral advice to stakeholders.
Essential Skills
Candidates for the Legal Advisor positions should possess the following skills:

The ability to apply international legal norms to concrete factual circumstances and provide timely advice and recommendations to a range of actors.

Excellent legal analytical and writing skills and an ability to prepare concise and accurate analytical reports that are useful for decision makers who do not have a legal background.

The ability to integrate legal advice into political and policy discussions.

The ability to work under pressure and against short deadlines; good judgment and organisational skills to prioritize and manage work on multiple projects with tight deadlines.

Good presentation and briefing skills that can be adjusted to the requirements of different audiences.

Working cooperatively within a team environment and promoting effective working practices and a collaborative culture within the Department, as well as working alongside and developing the capacity of more junior lawyers.

The ability to use software such as Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.

Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic is not required but is strongly preferred.
Qualifications and experience

A law degree. An advanced degree in international law is desired.

At least 10 years of professional experience in international law, providing legal advice to governments or in a multilateral context.
