Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in various areas of law, including but not limited to estate planning, family law, and litigation. This role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and a commitment to providing exceptional administrative support within a fast-paced legal environment.
Duties
- Provide executive administrative support to attorneys, including managing calendars, scheduling appointments, and organizing meetings.
- Conduct legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case preparation and documentation.
- Assist in the preparation and drafting of legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and correspondence.
- Manage case files and ensure all documents are accurately filed and maintained within document management systems.
- Perform document review and proofreading to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
- Facilitate communication with clients through effective phone etiquette and professional correspondence.
- Support project management tasks related to ongoing cases or legal projects.
- Assist with data entry, clerical tasks, and general office organization to maintain an efficient workflow.
- Conduct interviews with clients or witnesses as needed for case development.
- Stay informed about changes in relevant laws such as UCC law, environmental law, immigration law, patent law, and others pertinent to the firm’s practice areas.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role within a law office setting.
- Familiarity with various areas of law including family law, personal injury law, workers' compensation law, landlord-tenant law, tribal law & regulations, securities law, and litigation is preferred.
- Proficiency in legal software such as PCLaw and iManage is highly desirable.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience in legal case management processes is essential.
- Ability to perform transcription duties accurately while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Knowledge of project management principles as they apply to legal work is an advantage.
